New York Operation Lifesaver & The Long Island Railroad Team Up for Safety in 2022

NYOL and LIRR are collaborating on two new safety campaigns that will run from late summer to early fall. One safety campaign, called Phones Can Wait targets the dangers of distracted driving, especially from cell phone use. The other campaign concerns Station Safety and concentrates on the recent upswing in the use of scooters, bikes and other personal wheeled vehicles in stations and on platforms. We expect our ads and PSAs to be seen millions of times during the late summer and early fall of 2022.

Phones Can Wait

Distracted driving is always dangerous, but combined with driving near railroad tracks it could be deadly. For instance, texting while driving makes you 23 times more likely to be in an accident.

If you live on Long Island and drive near the Long Island railroad, you may see search engine ads like this one.

The campaign will include live events, signage on LIRR stations, a search engine ad campaign and PSA pre-rolls. We have developed this PSA for the campaign

Station Safety

There’s been a recent surge in riders across the nation using personal wheeled vehicles in stations and on platforms. In this collaboration with Long island Railroad TRACKS safety program NYOL will use banner ads, permanent signage, live events, and PSAs to get out the information to the public.
