Rail Safety Week came roaring back this year with hundreds of events throughout North America designed to highlight train and track safety. Over 300 Law Enforcement agencies participated in Operation Clear Track – distributing safety information, and a bit of traffic law enforcement to highlight safety at railroad crossings.
This year New York Operation Lifesaver asked our volunteers to show up at Wear Red for Safety events on Friday September 23. Joining our partners LIRR and Metro North who also hosted Wear Red for Safety events, NYOL held events at the Rensselaer Amtrak Station, in Fairport, NY and in North Tonawanda.
Thanks to all the volunteers who showed up, and everyone else who posted to social media that day about rail safety. Here’s a link to a story on our Rensselaer event.
